Exhibition at Design Post Köln
„A piece of Furniture is a vehicle, it is a tool to communicate, to create connections between people.“
Craft and industry, wood and metal, round and square, theory and practice. As a trained carpenter and studied designer, Thomas Schnur works as a designer and university lecturer to unite and manifest contradictions in objects of everyday use.
In the first part of the exhibition, the final designs are juxtaposed with initial sketches, photos and models. These include various already established pieces of furniture, like K5 and K7 for TECTA, but also prototypes, such as the ARFINIO Chair, made of a new, recyclable plastic, which was created in collaboration with the material manufacturer COVESTRO.
In part two, the series is completed by a reading room with the publication CHAIRMAN. Here, table designs by the Cologne designer enter into dialogue with his selection of pioneering seating furniture by different designers and manufacturers.

The publishing house of Buchhandlung Walther und Franz König presented the Chairman Book by Thomas Schnur. In addition to the book, the furniture designs for Tecta, Echtstahl, Magnus Mewes und Valentin Winder documented in the book are presented in the bookshop's window on Ehrenstraße in Cologne.

During Designers Open Leipzig, the Common Things Exhibition presents a collection of anonymous everyday objects of our industrialized world: objects that have become archetypes of particular functions due to their technical efficiency and global trade. In the framework program Thomas Schnur, Volker Albus and Jens Thiel, will lecture about the meaning, as well as our appropriation and relationship to these overlooked things.

The Factory of Ideas, an installation for Covestro, will be on show at Interzum in Cologne. Hall 10.2 Stand F041.
Gravity Rack edited by Nomess Copenhagen and Rubber Table are selected for the 20 years anniversary exhibition from Salone Satellite. The show will take place at Fabbrica del Vapore, via Procaccini 4 during Milan Design Week.
Construct Table is now in production by Magazin. The Table is available in two sizes and three colors at the shops and the website.
Bench Chair is part of the Monobloc Project exhibition by Michel Kowalski and Franck Dujoux at cultural center ARCADE / Château de Sainte Colombe in Auxois, France.
In the Common Things exhibition and the eponymous book, Thomas Schnur reflects on everyday objects that have become stereotypes of common use. Besides the book presentation, selected everyday objects are presented on furniture designed by Thomas Schnur, visualising a dialogue, between his research and practice.
